Well-known artists like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails have paved the way for a new era of music business by trying out innovative new ways to engage the consumer. Letting the consumers choose the price for an album is one model that worked ; offering goods that can be infinitely duplicated (music) for free and tying it to scarce goods (vinyl records, t-shirts, collector’s items etc.) is another.

Today, at the E3 conference, Microsoft announced that both Facebook Connect and Sign-In With Twitter would be integrated with Xbox Live, starting this fall. According to developer James Morrissey, "It's aimed primarily toward those who may work in an office (or even people at school) and want to keep Facebook chat running all day to keep in contact with friends, without needing to have a full facebook web browser session going - which doesn't look so great if someone's boss walks past." Right on, James! Power to the people! Sponsor FaceoffIM features tabbed chatting and a panic button, another office essential in case of nosy bosses.
